The 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff at Rolled Threads took place last month, and after another fantastic event, the tradition will certainly continue. What started in 2022 as an employee-driven idea for some friendly, flavorful competition has become one of our team’s most anticipated events each year. After the first cookoff’s success, it was clear we’d found a winning combination, bringing employees together in a spirit of fun, flavor, and community.
This year’s submissions brought a greater variety than the first two years’ selections. Contestants submitted eight diverse chili entries, showcasing a full spectrum of flavors—from bold, spicy varieties to a creamy chicken chili, and even a unique sweet pumpkin chili. Rolled Threads provided all the essential fixings, plus some exciting prizes for the winners.
Each employee had the chance to savor every chili (if desired) in a blind taste test. Then, everyone could cast a single vote for their favorite chili.
Max’s recipe took first place, featuring a special ingredient: spicy sausage. “I’m a chili fanatic,” Max shared when asked what draws him to the competition each year. “It’s not only fun to cook for everyone here, I enjoy trying all the other options as well.”
Rick secured second place with his richly-layered chili, spiced with cinnamon, cocoa, and the unique warmth of Kashmiri chili powder.
Nearly every employee joined the tasting, making it close to a full-team event. They enjoyed excellent camaraderie and a well-deserved break from their dedicated work. With full stomachs (and perhaps some accompanying heartburn!), everyone is already looking forward to what our creative chefs will cook up next year.
