Rolled Threads Unlimited expanded in 2022—adding 5,000 square feet of manufacturing space, investing in tie rod production capabilities, hiring new team members, and more—while continuing to provide quality services and products to our dedicated customers.
Recently, President Ted Ladky took time to reflect on the past year, also sharing what he foresees for Rolled Threads Unlimited and the industry in 2023.
Rolled Threads added an additional 5,000 square feet to their manufacturing space this past year. How will that expansion provide opportunities for growth in 2023?
The additional space will house new equipment that will increase our capacity as well as enhance our value-add capabilities. In this space, we’ll be able to utilize our new straightener and sophisticated parts washing machine. We also recently acquired two new Tesker E-215 thread rolling machines.
In 2023, you expect the arrival of your new Videx high-speed planetary threads roller for tie rod production. What does that mean for the various industries you serve?
We believe that the new Videx machine will help us enter some markets for higher volume work–likely for the heavy equipment and fluid power industries. The Videx can also be used to make large quantities of fully threaded studs, which could open doors in a variety of other industries.
With a dynamic economy and much upheaval continuing within the supply chain, how is Rolled Threads continuing to adapt to the needs of their customers?
Even as the supply chain issues continue and new opportunities arise, we’re staying firmly committed to what has brought us success in the past: great customer service, on-time deliveries, and excellent quality. Quality relationships have always been our priority, and we adapt to the unique needs of our customers by simply listening to them.
What do you think the biggest challenge facing the industry is in 2023?
As referenced in the previous question, our industry is facing uncertainty and upheaval with ongoing inflation, continued labor challenges, and overall economic uncertainty in 2023. As these things unfold, the industry-wide challenge will be adding new customers while simultaneously maintaining and increasing business with current customers.
You truly care about your people and culture. What makes your team so special?
We’re fortunate that everyone shares a desire to grow as a team and as a business. This means that we embrace unique challenges, learn new skills, and sometimes even go beyond our original job descriptions in our daily work. At Rolled Threads Unlimited, we remain committed to hiring, retaining, and investing in quality employees.
As we begin 2023, what are some of your goals for Rolled Threads Unlimited in this next year?
Besides getting our new equipment up and running, our goal is to expand by adding even more building space—hopefully between 5,000 and 10,000 square feet—in 2023. We’re also working to improve our KANBAN system to better streamline processes. We are always looking to foster new relationships while maintaining great service of existing customers.
Last year, you highlighted a personal goal to be more physically active since you sit at a desk all day. Were you able to accomplish that goal, or is it time to set a new one?
I was able to stay physically active for most of the year by biking and doing yoga, but I moved recently which caused me to go “off track”. As I return to a normal routine in 2023, I need to start prioritizing exercise again.
I would also love to read more and spend less time on my phone; however, I think I’ve said this a few years in a row now…
